The summer board is here: Sunrise Bliss, Benny and iced Cosmic River

What's on the specialty board this summer at The Brew Cafe, and the story behind the Benny: brown sugar and heavy cream, shaken over ice.

Summer on Creyts Rd means the iced side of the board does most of the work. Three drinks are getting the most attention right now, and each one is built here rather than poured from a bottle.

Sunrise Bliss

Honey, lavender, and tangerine oil over espresso. It reads floral first and citrus second, and it holds up better over ice than hot. $5.90.

Benny

Brown sugar, heavy cream, and a pinch of salt, shaken with espresso until it goes cloudy. It is the shortest ingredient list on the board and the one people come back for. Iced only, $4.48.

Cosmic River, iced

Blackberry, lavender, and lemon oil. The hot version is good. The iced version is the one we would order on a July afternoon, because the lemon oil stays sharp when everything else gets sweet. $5.90.

The rest of the board

Twenty specialty lattes are available hot or iced, and the flavors are the same either way. If you want the full list with prices, it is on the menu. If you would rather skip the line, you can order ahead through joe.

Almond, coconut, and soy milk are available on any of them, and Great Harvest sends gluten-free bakes over daily.
